Broken Arrow (1996)
His Review:
Partners in the US Air Force, Deakins (John Travolta) and Hale (Christian Slater) are assigned a routine flight mission to transport 2 nukes. However, this time it is anything but routine as Deakins hijacks the plane and releases both nukes in the national park below to be collected by his awaiting crew. Deakins did not plan on young Hale rising to the occasion, along with an attractive park ranger Terry (Samantha Mathis), and being a thorn in his side.
Directed by action guru John Woo (Mission Impossible 2, Face/Off, Windtalkers), Broken Arrow is a fun ride that is predictable at times, but who cares with this kind of movie. It is full of action, intense moments and a surprising performance from John Travolta, who was given the option of which role to play. He wanted to play the villain and did the same thing for the next John Woo film, Face/Off. Appearing high on my personal top 100 list, Broken Arrow was one of a few action films I watched over and over and I love to this day. Co-starring Delroy Lindo and Howie Long.
9/10 Stars – One of my favorite action movies as a teen, just wish it had more memorable moments.
