Four Brothers (2005)
Bobby (Mark Wahlberg), Angel (Tyrese Gibson), Jeremiah (Andre Benjamin) and Jack (Garrett Hedland) Mercer are brothers. They are not biological brothers, but due to troubled pasts, grew up together with the same foster mother, Evelyn. When Evelyn is murdered during a convenient store robbery, the 4 brothers come back home to investigate the details of her death and discover the amount of gang violence going on in their own backyard.
Appearing on my personal top 100 list, Four Brothers is a great action/drama that has an all-star cast with plenty of heart and humility. The story doesn’t sound like much from a simple synopsis, but as you watch the movie, you will get sucked in by the characters and the situations. Mark Wahlberg is one of my favorite actors and this is the film that really made me begin to enjoy anything he is in. 2 up and coming actors, also established rappers, are Tyrese Gibson and Andre Benjamin who show they have promise. If you are looking for a movie that you might have not heard about, or wasn’t widely advertised, check out Four Brothers, you wouldn’t be disappointed. Co-starring Terrence Howard, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Fionnula Flanagan, and Josh Charles.
9/10 Stars – Heart-felt, dramatic and entertaining. Mark Wahlberg pulls off the “Eminem” attitude well.
