His 2015 Oscar Predictions
I was happy to report that 6 out of the 8 films this year made it into my Top 25 Movies of 2015 and 5 of them are in the top 12! The film that came in at #2 (and thus my pick for Best Picture) would be The Martian, but I wouldn’t mind if my #4 Spotlight, #7 Brooklyn, #8 The Revenant or #11 Mad Max won! This year was full of great movies I liked so the Best Picture winner will most likely be one I will be pleased with!
Leonardo DiCapro is gonna win… and in my opinion, he did the best job, although Matt Damon is a close 2nd… and Tom Hardy should have been in this category for Legend!
Brie Larson is gonna win… and she did a great job in Room (even if I didn’t care for the movie that much). I still love Saoirse Ronan in Brooklyn so if she wins I’ll be pleased.
Ridley Scott!!!! Oh, wait… he wasn’t nominated… don’t you think the Academy would have learned when Ben Affleck wasn’t nominated for Argo?!? Anyways, I’d given it to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu again!
Best Supporting Actor:
This is an easy one as well, Sylvester Stallone will win this time for playing Rocky, although Tom Hardy needs an Oscar!
Best Supporting Actress:
Seeing as Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander should have been in the lead categories, one of them will probably win, but my heart wants Kate Winslet for Steve Jobs!
Best Original Screenplay:
Hmmmm, I love a great story and all of these movies had good stories, but my favorite of the bunch is Ex Machina, even though Spotlight will probably win…
Best Adapted Screenplay:
The Big Short is cleaver and will written to get the point across (and will win), but I still want The Martian to win because the story is awesome!
Which movies is the prettiest and special to look at? Easy, The Revenant.
Best Visual Effects:
I think because The Revenant will take Cinematography, Mad Max will take this one.
I’ve never really had a good nose for this category, but I think The Revenant will win this one as well.
Best Animated Feature:
I didn’t like any of these really (but I only saw 3). Inside Out will win because it is Pixar.
Best Costume Design:
Cinderella is what this category is all about!
Best Production Design:
I think this again comes down to Mad Max or The Revenant, with the latter winning!
Mad Max, duh!
Best Original Score:
John Williams again?
