Hostage (2005)

His Review:

When a failed hostage cop turned local sheriff is drawn to a home where 3 young punks have taken a family hostage in their own home, Sheriff Talley (Bruce Willis) must put his past behind him and help the people in need.  However it isn’t so easy when another task must be completed before he can save the hostages or his own wife and daughter, who are being held captive, will die.  What will Sheriff Talley do in order to not allow any more deaths on his watch?

Just like your typical Bruce Willis action flicks, Hostage is suspenseful, action-packed and bloody.  Even though most of the story is a cliché, I wouldn’t call it predictable and the ending is dramatic and clever.  Ben Foster gives a troubling performance as the loose cannon of the hostage triplets and in a way, I see Mars in all his other roles, its THAT convincing.  Bruce Willis is my favorite actor and I’ve seen most of his films.  I’d place Hostage somewhere above average, but no where in the ballpark of Die Hard.  Co-starring Kevin Pollak and Jonathan Tucker.

8/10 Stars – Bruce Willis action flicks need to try very hard to get below an 8 for me.
