Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
In the 5th installment of the Ice Age franchise, a small meteor shower signals the approach of a huge asteroid that will kill everything on Earth. Our faithful crew, along with the return of Buck, must figure out a way to stop the collision before it ends everything!
I kinda wish the asteroid would have just killed them all and ended this franchise. First of all, when an animated franchise reaches its 5th installment, it can’t be good. There was no advertisement for this movie and it showed because it arrived in theaters and was gone before anyone noticed. I’m glad that all the regular characters returned, especially Buck, but this movie is far removed from the spirit of the original movie. It has incorporated way too many pop culture references to please the young audiences, however, the setting for this movie is in the ICE AGE so these characters should behave as such (like from the first movie!!). Because of this fact, this movie isn’t funny and I found it quite annoying. The plot is dumb and the science they use to save themselves is also pretty dumb. Kids movie or not, don’t insult our intelligence by telling me these animals saved Earth with a magnetic volcano. Oh, and what the hell is with that stupid squirrel and his nut. He has nothing to do with the overall story or characters and he is really getting old. Just let the damn squirrel eat the nut already! Starring the voices of Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Jennifer Lopez, Adam Devine, Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer, Simon Pegg, Max Greenfield, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Stephanie Beatriz, Josh Peck, and Sean William Scott.
5/10 Stars – It wasn’t unbearable, but even the return of Buck couldn’t restore this franchise back to when it was good (or semi-good.)
