Lethal Weapon (1987)
When crazy and suicidal LA cop Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) is partnered up with family man Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), their ying yang style of police work brings them closer together then they ever could have imagined. When Roger gets a phone call from an old war friend about the death his daughter, Riggs and Murtaugh set out to bring down a drug dealer who is now targeting Roger’s family.
During a decade when the “buddy cop” craze was in full effect, Lethal Weapon took the formula to a new level – thanks in part to the huge chemistry of Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. The story isn’t anything new or memorable, but the action, fights and situations are highly entertaining. With similar styles of the Beverly Hills Cop and Die Hard franchises, Lethal Weapon has 4 films to date in the series and rumors are that a remake is in the works, but sadly without the 2 leads that made it so great. Appearing on my personal top 100 list, fans of great, thrilling, action movies will not be disappointed, and if you haven’t seen this, what are you waiting for?!?! In fact, watch the whole damn series! Co-starring Gary Busey, Mitchell Ryan, Darlene Love, Jackie Swanson, and Tom Atkins.
10/10 Stars – Smart, funny, charming (for a bro-mance), and great thrilling action!
