Point Break (2015)
When an ex-extreme sport athlete, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), points out to the FBI that a group of bank robbers are attempting to pull off the biggest feat in extreme sports history, they put him undercover to find out what the robber’s plan and purpose is for stealing the money. Johnny must stop the leader, Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez), before he kills himself and those around him.
For those of you that don’t know, this is a remake of the 1991 Kathryn Bigelow’s movie of the same name and boy does it suck. I haven’t seen the original for some time (and I plan to rewatch it after I write this), but this movie is ALL about the action and “extreme sports.” We see people surf, skydive, climb waterfalls, ride motorcycles, crash cars and eventually die from the things they are doing. The story about the 8 challenges is semi-interesting but let’s be real, this movie is about people doing stunts and a cop trying to stop them. That is it. If you want to see extreme sports than just watch the X-games on ESPN. This movie isn’t about the story and for that it makes it a boring watch, especially for a movie that is almost 2 hours long. Yawn. Co-starring Max Thieroit, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Tobias Santelmann.
4/10 Stars – Sure it is watchable, but when the story is just about extreme sports and the stunts people can pull off, it doesn’t make for a good movie.
