His Review:
Shrek’s (Mike Myers) life is very different from the one he once knew. He is married and has 3 babies. Villagers want Shrek to sign their pitchforks, roar for their kids and make appearances during tours to the swamp which begins to wear Shrek very thin. During an argument with Fiona (Cameron Diaz), Rumpelstiltskin over hears Shrek say he wants his life back, before he met Fiona and offers Shrek 24 hours to be his old self in return for one of the days during his childhood. Shrek agrees, but it turns out that he gives Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn) the day he was born. He now has 24 hours to figure out how to keep himself from vanishing from existence and get back to his family.
The 4th installment in the Shrek franchise sees the most emotional and least comical one yet. It almost feels like your watching a drama rather than a comedy. The characters feel different and out-of-place because they aren’t the “regular” characters we know from the first 3 films, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth seeing. Shrek Forever After is an improvement over the 3rd film. Ladies expect to bring some tissues because you will be crying by the time it’s over. I can’t tell if this will be the last of Shrek we see, but if it is, it leaves a sweet and emotional tale that will leave an odd taste in your mouth, but that’s not a bad thing. Co-starring Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, John Cleese, Julie Andrews, Jon Hamm, Jane Lynch, Craig Robinson, Mary Kay Place, and Kathy Griffin.
8/10 Stars – The series tries to go original again and leaves use with more of an emotional tale than comedic.
