The Incredibles (2004)
The world is full of superheros and Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) is tops in popularity due to his super strength and dazzling personality. When his “biggest fan” Incrediboy gets in the way and lets the bad guy escape, Mr. Incredible hurts his feelings and sends him home. Things begin to change for superheros has people begin to file law suits against them and tell them to “fit into society” or go away. Several years later, Mr. Incredible has married Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) and they have 3 kids, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack. They are the Parr’s and live in the suburbs. When Mr. Incredible gets fed up with his insurance sales job, he and his best friend Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson), go out at night and listen to the police scanner for “hero” jobs, but when Mr. Incredible is enticed into a larger scale job, and becomes prisoner to a new super villain Syndrome (Jason Lee), the rest of his family must come and save him.
Directed by Brad Bird (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Ratatouille, The Iron Giant), The Incredibles was Pixar’s 6th feature film. With great animation and wonderful charm, the Incredibles is a fan favorite from beginning to end. I honestly don’t think I’ve met anyone who didn’t like this movie. It’s a superhero movie that teaches kids the importance of family and being yourself while packing in tons of adventure and action. My only complaint with this movie is that for the last decade we have been left with a cliffhanger ending with no sequel “in the works” and I don’t see how it isn’t obvious that this movie deserves a sequel! Either way, The Incredibles is a wonderful film for the whole family and shows Pixar magic. Co-starring voices from Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Wallace Shawn, and Elizabeth Pena.
9/10 Stars – The every man’s superhero movie… Great animation and tons of charm and fun!
I love, love, love The Incredibles! Aside from the story being easy to follow and enthralling, it is also built for kids and adults alike. This is one of the great things about the Pixar/Disney collaborations, they are great movies for any age. As you would expect, the animation is superb. I think one of my favorite scenes is at the end and it involves Frozone, fellow hero and friend to Mr. Incredible, yelling at his wife about his super suit which she has put somewhere because they are suppose to be having a fancy dinner out. Cracks me up every time! No one should miss this particular movie!
10/10 Stars – Would watch it any time, and can’t wait for the next one!
