Transformers is a movie based off the popular children’s toys from the 1980’s and 1990’s about robots that can transform into human electronic devices, vehicles mostly. A war is raging between the Autobots (good guys) and the Decepticons (bad guys). The All Spark is a cube-looking device that is the source of all the robot’s powers, and if in the wrong hands, can turn all electronic devices against the humans. Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), the grandson of the man who found the “Ice Man”, is in position of artifacts from his grandfather’s expedition that the Decepticons need badly. With his camaro, Bumble Bee, as his guardian, Sam and the Autobots must stop the Decepticons from getting the All Spark.
Anything directed by Michael Bay (Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon), as expected, is big, flashy and full of special effects and Transformers is his most explosive to date. The robots are detailed, sleek and there are tons of them. On top of that, the sleek, badass robots make huge, badass explosions! There are plenty of big Hollywood names such as Megan Fox, Jon Voight, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel. Transformers is a great movie and one hell of a fun ride, just wish Shia LaBeouf wasn’t such a dork. Co-starring Rachael Taylor, Anthony Anderson, Kevin Dunn and Julie White.
9/10 Stars – Even if you think the story is dumb, the special effects are nuts!
